P-DTR

P-DTR: Proprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex

P-DTR is a neurological manual therapy technique that treats pain and dysfunction by addressing imbalances in the nervous system. It focuses on identifying and correcting dysfunctional sensory receptors, which are nerve endings that send information to the brain. These receptors influence how the brain changes muscle response and posture, how guarded the body feels, and how the brain interprets safety and threat.

Sensory receptors are found throughout the body in muscle belly, muscle-tendon junctions, ligaments, free nerve endings, and joints. These receptors pick up and feed information to the brain about pain, temperature, pressure, stretch, vibration, force, and movement. After injury, these receptors are prone to becoming hypersensitive even after the physical tissue has healed. This causes the brain to create compensation patterns in the body such as muscle guarding, weakness, or chronic pain until proper functioning of the nervous system is restored.

P-DTR uses gentle muscle testing, neurological challenges, and non-invasive sensory stimulation to reset the nervous system's faulty sensory receptors to provide long-term remedies for issues like chronic pain, limited range of motion, and movement and performance limitations.
